Family Tech Tips

Welcome to Family Tech Tips! Here at Three Creeks K-8 we strive to provide families and students with as much information as we can concerning the digital tools that are used in classrooms to support instruction. Many of these tools will be new to both families and students. While students have the benefit of gradually learning and apply skills when using these new digital tools, families often are left wondering...what is this tool and how is it used? We hope this webpage will help to answer your questions. Also remember that teacher webpages provide you with more specific lists of the digital tools being used in their classrooms.

What is Digital Citizenship?

Digital Citizenship focuses on teaching students how to use technology in a safe and responsible manner and build a positive digital footprint or online image. Students who possess digital citizenship skills know how to communicate digitally in an appropriate and safe manner, recognize and prevent cyberbullying, and identify valid informational sources.

What is Google Classroom?
Google Classroom is a free digital workflow system for schools that simplifies creating, distributing, and grading assignments in a paperless way. Classroom can be used seamlessly with other Google apps including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar and Gmail. With this tool, teachers are easily able to organize their classes and groups to see who has completed work and provide real-time feedback and grades for students. Google Classroom is available as a web tool and an iPad app. Click on this link here to learn more about Classroom email summaries for guardians.
