How Our Library Works!

Here at Three Creeks we have some teachers who come with their entire class while other teachers choose "flexible checkout". Flexible Checkout means that students may return and checkout books on Monday through Friday based on their needs.
Length of Checkout
Standard checkout is for 2 weeks, although students may need to renew for an additional 2 weeks, especially for our older readers.

Popular titles are often checked out but students can put those titles on hold right from their device! Students will just need to be logged into Destiny Discover with their student number and password to place a title on hold.

Look Up
Students can use our Search Station in the library to look up available books, find their shelf location or place a book on hold.

How Is Our Collection Organized?
Books are organized in a way that caters to the different needs of readers. For our K-1 readers, they often explore picture books (also called Everybody Books), Junior Fiction(beginning chapter books) and they dig in to the different nonfiction topics.
2nd and 3rd grade readers start to read longer chapter books and they often get attached to books in a series. For this reason, we have lots of series collections such as Junie B. Jones, Magic Tree House, Stick Dog, and Heidi Heckelbeck. These students still explore nonfiction based on topics.
4th and 5th grade readers start to explore a fiction section that is genrefied. Students might look for a favorite genre such as Graphic Novels, Historical Fiction, Scary, Adventure, Humor, Realistic Fiction or Fantasy. Longer nonfiction titles are available digitally and in the library.
Grades 6, 7 and 8 have access to all genrefied fiction including those books that are considered Young Adult and organized by genre. Longer nonfiction titles are available digitally and in the library.

Digital Collection
Based on our 1:1 environment 60% of our collection is digital. Having approximately 90% of our nonfiction collection in a multiuser, unlimited access, digital format allows students to quickly and easily access content for research within their classrooms, at home or anywhere in the world! It maximizes instructional time and also provides students with a greater amount of access to texts at varied ability levels in a discreet manner. Students can access our digital collection using the app Destiny Discover.
